Let the Word Go Forth From This Day Forward:

President’s Day is NOT a trash pick up holiday in Chicago. Why doesn’t the Department of Streets & Sanitation have its holiday schedule on its website? We go through this every frakking year, running out as the truck lumbers up the street, moving both cars and hauling the cans out in a hot hurry through the snow. At least we made it this time.

  1. That happens every other week in our house. We forget to set the trash out Sunday night and then I hear the truck lumbering down our road and do a mad dash to haul it out to the street.

    • Every so often the garbagemen decide to surprise us by showing up a little early, and we do the same thing. The problem is that we keep our garbage cans on the back of the driveway and there usually isn’t room to get them past the cars, so we usually have to move at least one, and more often two, cars to get the cans out to the curb. It’s a time consuming process, and a little embarrassing when I’m wearing my Superman pajamas.

  2. I’m enjoying the image of a hot hurry through the snow.
