We have ours in the back laundry room with no TV or anything. It is tough to stay focused when you are staring at nothing. Even with music. I use Sennheiser PMX 70 headphones. Actually they are my wife's. I haven't tried the running with a hat, but I've walked the dog with a hat and those headphones. They do wrap around the ear so it may not work well, or be very comfortable. I can't use the earbuds either. They fall out of my ears when I'm sitting in a chair. Where are you putting the treadmill?
